About

My name is Sam, I am slightly too obsessed with icing!  My vision is to create the perfect centrepiece for your wedding, something you will look back on in years to come, memories of your perfect day.

Some of you love the minimalism of cake with little decoration, maybe a single sugar flower, whilst others chose a cascade.  Some like quirky and fun, and the more adventurous amongst you may want a skull or two!  This is what I am passionate about, I don’t make a masterpiece for me, I create it for the most important couple in the world….you.

It all starts from the humble beginnings of sugar, butter and flour, combined with love, care and attention to detail. Working with each couple, I create unique pieces of edible art work to remind you of the happiest day of your life.

I love the creation of sugar flowers to adorn your cake which you can keep forever with careful storage.  I also love to model figures, such as bride and grooms, through to larger more challenging pieces.

I pride myself with a 5 star rating from the local Council, and I am fully insured.  Based in North Kent, I am in an excellent position to deliver your wedding cake to many venues, whether they are large, small or anywhere in between.  I always liaise with the venue, to remove any additional worry from you, ensuring your cake arrives safely and is set up exactly how and where you want it for your big day.

I just wanna say a massive thank you for the cake. It was STUNNING. A true masterpiece. All the guests enjoyed it, along with the other sweets.

I really couldn’t imagine it better.

Thank you very much for everything you’ve done.

My spare time…

Well my time is pretty much divided between cake and my family!  Having three kids certainly keeps me on my toes.  My eldest daughter is currently at Winchester University, it is a lovely place so I’m happy to do drop offs and collections – any excuse to have a mooch round the quaint streets and shops. My son, now embarking on his A levels, is spending some of his time coaching football so more drop off and collections! Fortunately, my youngest daughter has found her legs at last and is out and about with friends.  I really have no idea of the comings and goings in our house!

Three or four times a year I am also called upon at my kids school to help invigilate exams – I thought it would be nice to get out a bit and see other people completely forgetting I have to walk around in silence!

If I’m not on call for the kids then I like to try out cake trends – my kids never know what they are going to get for a birthday cake – providing it is chocolate cake I don’t think they care anymore!  I also like to sign up to classes to improve my skills and keep my knowledge up to date.

Monday evenings are spent teaching.  I hire a classroom in the local primary school and teach Sugarcraft.  It has been really successful and has been running since 2021 during term times.  You can find details of my latest classes in the shop page.

The Sugarcraft Junkies, a podcast for cake makers by cake makers was formed by myself and a fellow cake maker friend, Erica.  We record monthly and cover a variety of topics from sustainability to photoshoots.

Having been the chair of Gravesend’s Sugarcraft Guild for a couple of years, and spending six years on the committee, I finally decided to step down, although still a member, I have freed up a bit of time which has been taken up with our reasonably new addition, our rescue dog; Jacob, a Brittany/Springer Spaniel cross.  He is adorable and helps to keep me sane.
